Yes. We are here to talk about the new Rick Owens collection for Dr Martens because I kinda love it.
It isn't exactly a shocking headline that the goth girl loves Rick Owens to be fair. I have to admit that Dr Martens have been hitting me hard with their collaborations lately. This comes off the back of their Black Sabbath collection which was just as gorgeous.
Every damn place
Whoever is handling their PR and marketing needs a raise because I am seeing these damn boots everywhere. It's still a lot less hype than the H&M collaborations thanks to the price point. The boots were somewhere in the region of about £299. They sold out today so thanks for that everyone.

Rick Owens:
“When I was a teen and becoming physically aware, I saw how a tightly laced ankle leading to a broad solidly planted foot had a simple, modest, industrial masculinity – almost like a corset between a muscled calf and a sturdy foot that acted as a stoic ballast. DMs exemplified this the best.
“I saw them on all the guys flying through the air at the shows I went to then… Fear… Black Flag… The Screamers… Alien Sex Fiend. Dr Martens became a symbol of a raw and sweaty vitality that I thought I might be able to pull off… and for a minute, I think I did…”

Punk ass spirit
I absolutely live for the quote that Rick Owens gave Vogue in a piece on the collaboration:
“I relished in the violence and homoerotic sexuality of the mosh pit”, he shares. “I’m pretty sure some of the scars on my face might have been inflicted by Dr Martens.”
It is true that Dr Martens have always had this badass image that I associate with the mosh pit. These were the boots of teenage rebellion that I lusted after but my mother would never buy me. I remember my first pair were bought for me not by me. I don't know why but that took a bit of the sheen off them. I was horrified by how painful they were. In fact, they are still in the house almost intact to this day. I have about three pairs now. My life in Italy was characterised by a pair of burgundy soft leather boots from DM that I wore into the ground. I still have them despite the fact that they are breaking.
The second coming
Fear not, if you have missed this drop. A second collection according to Vogue will be coming in May. The competition will be steep for a pair if this one is anything to go by.
