NIGERIA; OBASANJO GIVES REASONS WHY HE CHOSE AILING UMARU YARADUA AS HIS SUCCESSOR

Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday said that he chose late  Umaru Yaradua as his successor as president of Nigeria because others who wanted to occupy the position were corrupt following information made available to him at that time.
Obasanjo said in order to justify himself before man and God he had to choose Yaradua as one of those vying for the position was 'stinkingly corrupt'.
Obasanjo made this known in an interview with Channels Television in Abeokuta.
Obasanjo's choice of succcessor, former president Umaru Yaradua died in office on May 5th, 2010 as a result many condemned Obasanjo for choosing an ailing man to succeed him.
